Strawberry Cream Cheese Rolls
Strawberry Rolls with Cream Cheese – perfect for a weekend breakfast or brunch. Delicious sweet rolls with scrumptious strawberry jam and rich cream cheese icing.
Ingredients:
For the Dough:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
For the Filling:
- 1 cup strawberries, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
For the Glaze (optional):
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tbsp milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions:
Prepare the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add in the milk and melted butter. Stir until a soft dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead it a few times until it comes together. Roll the dough into a rectangle, about 1/4-inch thick.
Prepare the Filling:
- In a separate bowl, mix together the chopped strawberries, softened cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Spread the filling evenly over the rolled-out dough, leaving about a 1-inch border around the edges.
Form the Rolls:
- Starting from the long side, carefully roll the dough into a log.
- Slice the log into 6 equal pieces using a sharp knife.
- Place the rolls into a greased baking dish, leaving some space between each roll.
Bake:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
Glaze (optional):
- While the rolls are baking, prepare the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl until smooth.
- Once the rolls are out of the oven and slightly cooled, drizzle the glaze over the top.
